August 20, 2010 - Game Show Auditions for 12-15 year olds!
CADA students are advised that Ambience Entertainment is auditioning for a new game show for 12-15 year olds called "What do you know?". It's a quiz show where you answer questions about your area of expertise. For example, if you have a lot of knowledge on a favourite subject - anything from Harry Potter to the science of stars or even the history of Rome - you can audition to be on the show. July 29, 2010 - FREE workshop for TEENAGERS announced!

CADA is pleased to announce a FREE INTRODUCTORY ACTING CLASS for kids aged 12-17. This one-hour class will take place at the Kama Scout Hall in Macquarie, on Saturday 7 August at 11.30am. It's absolutely free - no obligation to continue in the course past the first week. This is a fantastic opportunity for teens who want to give it a go and see what our classes are like.

CADA is pleased to announce that due to popular demand, we are opening Saturday classes for children and young people in the inner north in Term 3. Starting on Saturday July 24, our Speech Bubbles, Drama 4 Kids and Acting 4 Teens programs will be on offer at the Kama Scout Hall in Macquarie.

Unfortunately our guest speaker on "The Digital Art of Marketing You: The Performer", Iain McDonald, has advised us with regret that he is unable to be in Canberra on June 26 as planned, as this will now conflict with his publicity commitments in the US. Attention aspiring playwrights - the ACT Writers Centre is offering a Playwriting Workshop in conjunction with the 'Short + Sweet' 10-minute play festival, on May 28-30. This course is led by Alex Broun, who has had more than sixty 10-minute plays performed around the world. Download the info here:

 May 12, 2010 - Vacancies in Speech Communication Classes
We still have some vacancies for Term 2 Speech Communication classes in Narrabundah on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. These classes are great for shy kids as well as those with a strong interest in developing their public speaking skills. Catering for ages 6-17, speech classes can help children and young people to
·  speak confidently in front of others· form and express opinions ·  read aloud with life and meaning·  tell stories ·  gain a strong grasp of the English language.
Students can also work towards presentations in the National Eisteddfod or do exams in association with the Australian Speech Communication Association (ASCA) if they wish. Congratulations to all those guys who participated in our "Makeup for the Male Actor" Workshop on Saturday March 13! A fun time was had by all and new skills were acquired under the expert tutelage of local makeup artist, Karen Mathias.
 
Feedback from participants was overwhelmingly positive - rest assured no one ended up looking like this guy on the left!

CADA's Head of Studies, James Scott, will be performing with Everyman Theatre in Shakespeare's Richard III, in a season commencing Friday 12th May at the Courtyard Studio, Canberra. On this occasion he takes on the roles of the ill-fated Lord Hastings as well as the Constable of the Tower, Robert Brackenbury. Congratulations to CADA director, Elizabeth Scott (pictured at right), who was shortlisted for the 2009 Rodney Seaborn Playwrights Award for her full-length play, Lies, Love and Hitler. Elizabeth was one of seven shortlisted finalists out of a total of 92 entries from around the nation. The winner of the prize was West Australian playwright, Reg Cribbs.
